Foreign Ministry: Zionist Entity Imagines it can Use War on Syria to Legalize Occupation of Syrian Golan

DAMASCUS- It seems that it isn’t enough for Israel to be directly involved in supporting the armed terrorist groups in Syria, but it has imagined that it can exploit its support for the terrorist war on Syria in achieving its expansionist schemes and to legalize its occupation of the Syrian Golan in a blatant violation of international legitimacy resolutions, the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said yesterday in two letters addressing the UN Secretary General and President of the Security Council.

The ministry’s letters were commenting on the statements made by the Israeli entity’s Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman during his visit to the occupied Syrian Golan on January 31, 2014 in which he called for settling what he called the “Israeli sovereignty” in the Golan heights within the framework of the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations and Syria events, and in which he said that “part of this deal should include understanding between Israel, the international community and the United States, providing for recognizing “Golan as part and parcel of Israel”.

Liberman also claimed that the “security dangers which are linked to Israel’s capability to defend its northern area necessitate the international community’s recognition of Israel’s sovereignty on Golan heights.”

The ministry also said in its letters that these statements need to make it clear that “it is not acceptable politically, legally and morally to allow “Israel” to keep giving no heed to UN and Security Council resolutions related to ending the Israeli occupation of Arab territories including the Syrian Golan.

The ministry clarified that despite the fact that 47 years have passed since Israel occupied the Syrian Golan and though many international resolutions were adopted to end the Israeli occupation and stop its racist and expansionist policies, Israel is still ignoring all international calls and belittle the importance and value of the Security Council resolutions.

The ministry also called for adopting its letters as official documents of the United Nations and the Security Council.
