Foreign Ministry: The Syrian People Only Have Right to Determine their Future

DAMASCUS – Foreign and Expatriates Ministry affirmed on Tuesday that the Syrian people, who have struggled for more than 5 years against terrorism, are the only ones who have the right of self-determination, adding “the Syrian people don’t need the preachment of Ban Ki-Moon who has withdrawn a report that condemns Saudi Arabia in return for some dollars”, according to SANA.

Commenting on the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s statement at the opening of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Ministry said “The Syrian Arab Republic stresses its commitment to the right of the Syrian people in determining their future in accordance with the UN’s Charter,” stated the Ministry, adding that Ban Ki-moon’s today speech about Syria is totally far away from the terms of the UN’s Charter which should be respected by the one who assumes the position of its Secretary-General.

 “The UN, during the term of Ban Ki-moon, has deviated from its role in reaching fair solutions to the current international issues and couldn’t solve any international problem, rather the accusations and cries of the oppressed people due to the UN’s bias towards dominating states echoed loud in protest of the UN and Ban Ki-moon’s stances,” it added.

The Ministry concluded “we hoped that Ban Ki-moon’s last statement would be “significant” and summarize his experience as the current UN Secretary-General, but he failed to achieve this goal.
