Foreign Ministry: The illegal entry of an American delegation to northeastern Syria shows the destructive role of Washington and its support for terrorism

Damascus (ST): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed that the recent illegal entry into northeastern Syria by an American delegation headed by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Ethan Goldrich and holding meetings with separatist organizations represents a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and the principles of international law and Security Council resolutions relevant to Syria.

The Ministry said in a statement: The claim that this visit and the meetings that took place aimed to address the grievances of the residents of Deir Ezzour and the dangers of interference from abroad in Deir Ezzour is a blatant lie, in addition to the hypocritical approach promoted by the American administration, which steals the Syrian people’s wealth and their capabilities, and impose unilateral coercive measures that are illegal, inhumane and immoral, which contribute to the killing of Syrians without mercy.

The Ministry indicated that this blatant interference in the internal affairs of Syria by the United States of America, and its unlimited support for terrorist groups and separatist militias, once again demonstrates the subversive role of the United States in Syria, which aims to prolong the crisis there and increase the suffering of its people.

The Ministry concluded by saying: “Syria affirms its condemnation of these practices, its right and duty to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens by all means guaranteed by international law, and its determination to extend the sovereignty of the Syrian state over all its lands, and to end all forms of occupation and the illegal presence of foreign forces on its lands.”
