Foreign Ministry: Syria renews demands for some UNSC members to take immediate & decisive measures to prevent the recurrence of Israel’s terrorist attacks
Damascus (ST): The Foreign and Expatriates Ministry has affirmed that had the US administration not given the green light and offered unlimited support to Israel, the dangerous aggressive approach of Israel would not have continued.
In a letter sent to the President of the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary General, the Ministry said that the US administration along with other states ensure immunity for Israel against accountability, noting that the continuity of such attacks is unacceptable and will not pass without consequences .
The letter said, “ At 12.40 a.m., the Israeli enemy launched a new attack against the lands of the Syrian Arab Republic in a flagrant violation of the UN Security Council No. 350 for the year 1974 related to the Disengagement of Forces Agreement through launching consecutive waves of missiles from over the Lebanese city of Tripoli targeting Misyaf area in Hama Western countryside.”
The Ministry added that the new Israeli attack came as the world celebrates the birth of Christ, the symbol of love and peace to prove to the whole world that the Israeli occupation authorities are pressing ahead and practicing state terrorism which has recently accelerated , especially after the failure of its aggression and conspiracy with the aim of prolonging the crisis in Syria through supporting the terrorist organizations, the partners of Israel in terrorism and to hinder the Syrian Arab army and its allies in their battle to defeat Daesh and al-Nosra Front and other terrorist organizations affiliated to them.
The Ministry concluded its letter saying: “The Syrian Arab Republic renewed demands for some members of the UN Security Council to break their silence when the matter is related to Israel and shoulder their responsibilities according to the UN Charter, the most important of which is maintaining international peace and security and taking immediate and decisive measures to prevent the recurrence of Israeli terrorist attacks.”. The letter also demanded from the UNSC to force Israel to respect its resolutions related to the Agreement of the Disengagement of Forces and hold it accountable for its terrorism and crimes committed against Syrian people, which constitute a flagrant violation of UN charter and UN Security Council.
