Foreign Ministry: Syria condemns the terrorist bombing that hit a mosque in Pakistan

Syria has strongly condemned the terrorist bombing that took place yesterday in a mosque in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, stressing the need for concerted international efforts to eradicate terrorism in all its forms, and to hold the parties and countries that support it accountable.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement on Tuesday that “the government of the Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns the cowardly and horrific terrorist bombing that took place yesterday in a mosque in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, claiming the lives of more than 80 people and wounding dozens of worshipers.

The Ministry added: Syria expresses its support for the efforts of the friendly Islamic Republic of Pakistan in combating terrorism, from which the Syrian Arab Republic has also suffered during the past years.

The Ministry continued: “Syria stresses the need for concerted international efforts to eradicate terrorism in all its forms, and to hold the parties and countries that support it with arms and money accountable.”

The Ministry concluded its statement by saying: Syria extends its deepest condolences to the Pakistani government, the Pakistani people, and the families of the victims, and wishes a speedy recovery for the injured.
