Foreign Ministry: Syria condemns Erdogan’s regime cutting off water from Alouk station

Syria affirmed on Sunday that the Turkish occupation forces, once again, repeated their crime of cutting off the water from the Allouk water station for the twenty-fifth time

The Ministry said in a statement that the Turkish government’s disregard of the international community’s calls and of the suffering of the residents of Governorate of Al-Hasakah is a criminal behavior and a crime against humanity

The Ministry added: Erdogan’s regime continues to pursue its immoral policy related to the “water war” from time to timeThe Turkish occupation forces have again repeated their crime of cutting off the water from the Allouk station for the twenty-fifth timeThe terrorists and their mercenaries also attacked the electricity network feeding the station, which is the main source of drinking water for more than a million Syrian citizens in the city of Hasakah and its residential communities. This regime reduced the level of the Euphrates river flow below the legal ratios agreed upon between the two countries under the Bilateral agreement signed in 1987 and deposited with the General Secretariat of the United Nations. This is considered a criminal behavior against humanity that violates all international conventions. The ministry added that despite raising this issue in various international forums, this regime refuses to listen to the voice of reason and diplomatic wisdom and practices short-sighted policy

The Ministry confirmed that Syria calls on the Security Council and the UN General Secretariat to immediately intervene to compel the Turkish regime to respect the most basic rules of international law and to re-operate the Allouk water station. It calls for addressingthese inhumane practices that aim at restricting civilians and depriving them of livelihoods and life. Syria also calls on the UNSC to obligate the Turkish regime to implement Security Council resolutions related to combating terrorism with full respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and people of the Syrian Arab Republic.
