Foreign Ministry: Extending the EU’s coercive measures imposed on the Syrians proves its participation in the war on Syria

Syria has stressed that extending the Eropean Union’s inhuman coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people exposes the falsehood of the EU’s values and proves its participation in the war on Syria, reiterating that these measures are one of the aspects of war that has been targeting the country.

 An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement to SANA on Saturday that the European Union once again proves its disconnection from reality, as well as its full partnership in the heinous war imposed on Syria and its responsibility for shedding the blood of the Syrians and destroying their achievements.

The source added that the unfair sanctions imposed on Syria directly affect the Syrian people’s livelihoods and health and they constitute a flagrant violation of the simplest human rights and the principles of the International Humanitarian law.

Earlier on Thursday, the EU foreign ministers decided to extend the sanctions imposed on Syrian for one more year.

The source emphasized that the Syrian people, who defeated terrorism and its supporters, have proved that they are more determined to abort all the attempts that target Syria’s independent decision by voting actively in the presidential elections.

The source concluded by stressing that through its wrong approaches and blind subordination to the US policy, the EU has lost credibility and influence in all events in the region and the world.
