Foreign Ministry Deplores Brahimi Recent Statements on Syria

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants  on Thursday  said that Syria strongly deplores what was stated by the UN Special Envoy to Syria  Lakhdar Brahimi  and that such a statement is a flagrant violation of his  mission  , in being aligned   to positions  of sides, known for  conspiring against  Syria and the interests  of the Syrian people , and  that he  did not read the political program for solving the crisis in Syria , objectively.
The source added that  all know, states and individuals , that no one is able to speak on behalf of the Syrian people  who have the exclusive authority  to decide  its future, political system and choose the future of their  political system and leadership , adding that  Syria ‘s history is known to that the Syrians do not accept dictation or outside interference.
” We expected the UN envoy to  have read and analyzed the contents of political solution program  in Syria, a copy of which was provided us  from his office in Damascus , as the only outlet for solving the  crisis in Syria, because it is based on a comprehensive dialogue between the various components of the Syrian people to agree on a national charter submitted to popular referendum and draw  the political judicial, economic future  for Syria on the ground of democratic pluralism, and  if he read this program he would conclude that representatives of the Syrian people  are the ones who decide the future of Syria,” the  source underscored.
” If Brahimi has concluded that the situation in Syria is going from bad to worse , everyone knows that the continuation of violence and terrorism is due to the failure of the international community in obliging certain regional and international countries to  in cease funding, arming , harboring and smuggling armed terrorist groups,” the source continued.
It  added that Syria still hopes the success  for Brahimi mission and will continue to cooperate with him  for the success of this mission , in the context of the understanding  for a political solution to the Syrian crisis ,based  on principles and objectives of the UN Charter ,the international law , Geneva  statement dated 30.06.2012 and the  UN Security Council resolutions , which all confirmed that the solution must be by the Syrians and under a Syrian leadership.
