DAMASCUS,(ST)_ An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants on Thursday said that Syria strongly deplores what was stated by the UN Special Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi and that such a statement is a flagrant violation of his mission , in being aligned to positions of sides, known for conspiring against Syria and the interests of the Syrian people , and that he did not read the political program for solving the crisis in Syria , objectively.
The source added that all know, states and individuals , that no one is able to speak on behalf of the Syrian people who have the exclusive authority to decide its future, political system and choose the future of their political system and leadership , adding that Syria ‘s history is known to that the Syrians do not accept dictation or outside interference.
” We expected the UN envoy to have read and analyzed the contents of political solution program in Syria, a copy of which was provided us from his office in Damascus , as the only outlet for solving the crisis in Syria, because it is based on a comprehensive dialogue between the various components of the Syrian people to agree on a national charter submitted to popular referendum and draw the political judicial, economic future for Syria on the ground of democratic pluralism, and if he read this program he would conclude that representatives of the Syrian people are the ones who decide the future of Syria,” the source underscored.
” If Brahimi has concluded that the situation in Syria is going from bad to worse , everyone knows that the continuation of violence and terrorism is due to the failure of the international community in obliging certain regional and international countries to in cease funding, arming , harboring and smuggling armed terrorist groups,” the source continued.
It added that Syria still hopes the success for Brahimi mission and will continue to cooperate with him for the success of this mission , in the context of the understanding for a political solution to the Syrian crisis ,based on principles and objectives of the UN Charter ,the international law , Geneva statement dated 30.06.2012 and the UN Security Council resolutions , which all confirmed that the solution must be by the Syrians and under a Syrian leadership.
