Foreign Ministry: Baghdad Terrorist Attack Confirms Need for Unifying International Anti-Terror Efforts

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has condemned the terrorist attack which targeted the Iraqi neighborhood of Karrada in Baghdad today morning and claimed the lives tens of civilians, a source at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said on Sunday.

According to the source, “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemns the coward bloody terrorist blast which rocked Karrada area in Baghdad and caused the martyrdom of tens of civilians including women and children, the wounding of tens of others and huge destruction in busy markets and shops .”

 The Ministry expresses condolences to the brotherly people and government of Iraq and to the families of the victims, wishing speedy recovery to the wounded, the source said.

“These terrorist acts which are committed by extremist takfiri forces backed by foreign parties and well-known countries in the region, confirm once again the need for unifying sincere international efforts to fight terrorism away from double standard policies, the source added.

the source pointed out that Syria calls on the international community to work as to pressure the countries which back terrorism to stop supporting criminals, gangs and takfiris in order to protect the lives of the Iraqi people and preserve security and stability in the region and the entire world.
