Foreign Ministry asserts Israel’s attack on Syria violates the Agreement on disengagement

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Syria has declared that the Israeli missile attack, which was carried out  at dawn  today on its territories, is a blatant violation of the Agreement on Disengagement, calling on the United Nations and UN Security council to condemn this attack and the hostile repeated acts against the sovereignty of Syria.
 
“Today at 1:38 a.m. the Israeli occupation forces launched a new missile attack from  the occupied Syrian Golan towards  certain points in the surroundings of Damascus in a blatant violation of the Agreement on Disengagement of 1974,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement released on Thursday.
 
The statement added that Syria calls on the UN, particularly the Security Council to condemn the Israeli cowardly attack and the hostile repeated acts that are systematically perpetrated by Israel, US and Turkish occupation forces. 
 
“As a founding member at the UN, Syria still demands from the UN General Secretariat and Security Council to assume their responsibilities in the framework of the UN Charter, most importantly, maintaining international peace and Security and obliging Israel to respect the resolution relevant to the Agreement on Disinterment of 1974 and to bring all sides that support terrorism and launch attacks on Syrian sovereignty to  justice in line with resolutions 242, 338, 350 and 497,” the ministry said. 
 
It indicated that Israel’s attack today coincides with the escalated Western political, economic and media campaigns against Syria including the decision which was passed on Wednesday by Western countries at the 25th session of the Conference of States-Parties in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons against Syria. 
 
The ministry affirmed that Syria will never allow the attackers and terrorists to achieve their demonic dreams that try to destroy Syria.
 “ Syria will never turn its back on defending its land, people and sovereignty,” the statement concluded.
