BEIRUT, (ST)-The foreign ministers of Lebanon, Cyprus and Greece have affirmed the need to find political solution to the crisis in Syria that preserves its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a joint statement following a round of talks they held on Wednesday in Beirut, Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Jubran Basil, the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Kotzias and the Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides reiterated the importance of maintaining pluralism in the region embodied in coexistence among the diverse social, religious and ethnic components which are living together in peace. They also urged inclusive solution to the refugee and immigrant crisis based on joint responsibility and international cooperation.
The three ministers expressed concern over the spread of terrorism in the region and the entire world, stressing the importance of regional and international cooperation as to confront this threat.
Lebanese President Michel Oun met the Greek and Cypriot ministers of foreign affairs and discussed with them political developments in the region, anti-terrorism efforts, the refugee crisis and the issue of enhancing Lebanon’s economic, cultural and touristic ties with each of Greece and Cyprus. The meeting was attended by the Lebanese foreign minister.,
