DAMASCUS, (ST)- H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad has stressed that the visits made by delegations from the brotherly country of Tunisia express the vividness of the Tunisian society, noting the importance of such visits for dialogue and for getting knowledge about the real situation on ground in Syria.
President Al-Assad made the remarks during a meeting on Monday with a Tunisian parliamentary delegation led by MP Mbarka Brahimi. The guest delegation represents several Tunisian parties.
President Al-Assad said that Arab countries have the same points of weakness and they are facing the same foreign targeting but under different names.
He added that “public awareness about the reality and nature of this targeting has become big, consequently, Arab parliaments role is essential in order to exchange views and expertise and to establish a state of dialogue not on the current situation but also on the future, because foreign interventions won’t stop, they will continue to try to change our identity and divide us into sects and small groups.”
On their part, members of the guest delegation affirmed that they came to Syria to express the Tunisian people’s support for the Syrian people who kept steadfast despite the huge foreign-backed terrorist war on them.
They hailed Syria’s reconciliation process and the Syrians’ insistence to achieve victory over terrorism and to rebuild their country.
The delegation members stressed their determination to reactivate work for more coordination between the parliaments of Tunisia and Syria on all domains.
Earlier, Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem held a meeting with members of the Tunisian delegation during which he stressed the importance of upgrading parliamentary ties in the service of the historical relations between the two countries.
He reiterated that Syria will press ahead with the war on the foreign-backed takfiri terrorism.

Receiving Tunisian General Labor Union delegation, chaired by Boali al-Mobarki, the Union Assistant Secretary General, President Assad asserted that the Syrians’ willing of life and determination to pursue their daily life though of the crimes perpetrated by terrorist organizations and their backers, not to mention, of course, the heroism of the Syrian Arab Army, are among the causes for overcoming the difficult stage of this war.
President Assad pointed out that the visit of the delegation, as the visits by all popular delegations to Syria, are important as representing the pulse and feelings of the Arab street.
The Arab people have a high level of awareness regarding the ongoing in our region, which would but encourage popular organizations and unions for the more of cooperation and action in the interest of the Arab People, asserting the need for dialogue among popular unions about all issues as to reach to a collective stand of concepts oneness.
Members of the delegation asserted that their current visit to Syria is to convey a message of support to the Syrian People, who have shown a unique case of steadfastness and stood firm behind their Leadership and army in defense of the Arab Nation dignity and not of Syria alone.
The delegation members outlined that the West wants Syria to be up to its dictations, which Syria rejected, and reiterated that had the scheme against Syria succeeded, confusion and chaos would have spread all over the Arab region; thus the defense of Syria is the defense for all Arabs.
On March 22, 2017, President Bashar Al-Assad told a delegation representing the Popular Front for the Tunisian National Parties that one of the most dangerous aspects of the terrorist war imposed on Syria and the region is the attempt to target the Arab identity and culture and to distort the idea of belongingness to Arabism and the Arab homeland through disseminating extremist thinking.
President Al-Assad affirmed the role that can be played by Arab political parties and popular organizations in the confrontation of the ongoing cultural war through finding out the causes of deteriorated Arab situation and through adopting a pan Arab national project based on deep party and social dialogue.
On their part, members of the Tunisian delegation reiterated that Syria is being targeted in such a heinous an unprecedented way because it is the last gate of resistance against western and Zionist schemes and because it has been a staunch defender of Arab nationalism.
They voiced solidarity with the Syrian state and people, hailing the exceptional steadfastness of the Syrians in the face of the terrorist war.
