Foreign and Expatriates Ministry: French Role against Halting Violence in Syria, Encourages Terrorists

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ The Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry  called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council to deal very seriously with the French role, which stands against halting  violence in Syria and encourages terrorists to continue their massacres  against  Syrian innocent civilians, including the recent Sunday  terrorist attacks   in Bab Touma in Damascus which  claimed the lives of 13 Syrian citizens, mostly women and children.

In a statement issued by the Ministry Tuesday, assertion was made that the continuation of such a  French policy threatens peace and security in Syria ,  the region and the world , at a time when the United Nations struggles  through its special envoy to find a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria by seeking to stop  violence and terrorism.

The statement asserted that the French role in support of terrorism and violence in Syria is  but an integral part of a colonialist  legacy by certain French governments, and that the past and present French governments  continued their  blatant violation of the International Law, the UN Charter and France ‘s obligation as a permanent member at the UN Security Council, through their  moral and financial support to the armed terrorist groups in Syria.

This French policy is crystal clear in France’s hosting  of several meetings for the Syrian gunmen and their supporters  on the French soil, especially the meeting of the so called ” revolutionary civil councils”, which intends to perpetuate Syria ‘s segmentation and undermining  its sovereignty and territorial integrity and killing of the Syrians”, the statement underscored.

The government of the Syrian Arab Republic, the statement proceeded,  tried to exercise calm in dealing with this French intervention, embodied in daily repeated statements by the French Presidency and Foreign ministry. Statements which that carry hatred , lying and fraud concerning  events taking place in Syria, not to mention  the attempts made by the French security services to contract deals with the terrorists  and certain neighboring countries to inflame the condition in Syria and undermine Syria and its institutions.

The Syrian people will not forgive France and other countries that are promoting violence and terrorism in Syria and tightening the economic blockade on its people, the statement noted.

It explained  that these crimes which fall in the context of crimes against humanity are accountable under the  international law, besides being a flagrant violation of Syrian sovereignty,  for the sake of which  the Syrians  have struggled
