Foreign Affairs Minister agrees with his Moroccan counterpart to establish diplomatic relations

A meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Al-Shibani, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco, Nasser Bourita, on the sidelines of the 34th Arab League Summit held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The two sides agreed to establish bilateral diplomatic relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco, within a framework of mutual respect and shared brotherhood.

The Kingdom of Morocco expressed its intention to open its embassy in Damascus, which was welcomed by the Syrian Arab Republic. For its part, Syria will begin procedures to reopen its embassy in Rabat, affirming its commitment to enhancing relations and cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
