For the first time in 13 years, a delegation of businessmen from Turkey and Arab countries visits the Homs Chamber of Industry

Ways to enhance economic cooperation, develop trade exchange and advance the Syrian national economy after the fall of the former regime were the focus of the meeting that brought together today the headquarters of the Homs Chamber of Industatry a delegation of Arab businessmen in Mersin and members of the Homs Chamber of Industry for the first time in 13 years.

During the meeting at the headquarters of the Homs Chamber of Industry , the delegation stressed that the aim of the visit was to transfer factories from Turkey to Syria and to help Arab businessmen secure basic production materials for Syrian industrialists at a price lower than the cost of importing them directly through the chamber, in addition to forming a list of Syrian products to hold exhibitions for them in Turkey.

Secretary of the Homs Chamber of Industry, Issam Tizini, pointed out that for the first time a delegation from the Arab Businessmen Association in Mersin visited the Homs Chamber of Industry and discussed ways of cooperation to develop the dilapidated Syrian economic infrastructure, especially in light of the desire of some Arab businessmen to transfer their industries and factories to Syria, especially since they are Syrian-Turks. It was agreed to establish a twin relationship between the Homs Chamber of Industry and the Mersin Chamber of Commerce, so that this would be the first step towards the return of Syrian-Turkish economic relations.

Businessman Mohammed Al-Mashlaban from the Mersin Chamber of Commerce said that this visit is the first official visit from an official Turkish institution of Syrian origin from the city of Homs, and its goal is to transfer expertise and companies from the city of Mersin to the city of Homs as well as revive trade relations between the two countries, and revive the Syrian product to be in all global markets.

Al-Mashlaban stressed that the meeting was fruitful and that many creative ideas were presented during it to advance the Syrian industry. It was also agreed to invite the Board of Directors of the Homs Chamber of Industry to attend a conference at the beginning of next month in the city of Gaziantep dedicated to advancing the infrastructure in Syria and ways to develop the Syrian product. He pointed out that the Chamber of Industry will provide a map of the sites to which the factories can be moved from Türkiye and production can begin.

Businessman Najmuddin Shaqra, an investor in Turkey, pointed out that after today’s successful meeting, a number of factories and production lines will be transferred from Turkey to Homs and work will be done seriously to advance the Syrian industry, based on the fact that Syrians have been creative abroad and it is time for them to return to their homeland.

He referred to their role in pushing the wheel of industry and the national economy forward and restore it to its glory, especially in light of the presence of Syrian industrial expertise and stature, which, if combined with young energies, will achieve prosperity for Syrian industry and trade.

Shaqra stressed that a large number of businessmen abroad wish to return to Syria and contribute to its reconstruction.
