Folk dance shows in Homs and Daraa

On Monday, a dance show entitled the ‘gates of glory’ and operetta lyrics entitled the ‘seasons of joy’ were performed by youths in the cities of Homs and Daraa.

The first show entitled the ‘gates of glory’ was performed by 25 young men and women from the ‘Ajial’ team [generation team] on the theater of Homs.

It included several Damascene folk dances, Mawlawiyah and the Samah dances, according to the official news agency (SANA), which clarified that the 45minutes show comes within the activities of the ‘victory road’ festival organized by the Ministry of Culture in many provinces.

The agency quoted the trainer of the team Mr. Basel Hamdan as saying that the team has a cultural message manifested in gathering different generations to perform the show.

He added that the team is preparing a new show on Syria’s civilizations entitled ‘ Story of the homeland’.

The ‘Ajial’ team founded in 2007 is composed of 45 children plus 35 young men and women, who are professional dancers at the level of Syria.

Moving towards the south of the country, precisely to Daraa, 30 young men and women from the ‘Izraa’ team performed several popular dances from Horan heritage on Daraa Theater.

The operetta lyrics entitled the ‘seasons of joy’ challenges the terrorism, according to the Governor of Daraa Mohammad Khalid al-Hnos, who attended the show.

The ‘Izraa’ team for Popular Arts was founded in 1972 and it participated in several Arab and world festival before the beginning of the crisis in Syria.
