FM: Syria Strongly Condemns EU Insistence to Proceed the Policy of Deception and Hypocrisy

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that “the Syria strongly condemns the insistence of the European Union to proceed with the policy of deception and hypocrisy concerning Syria and the growing threat of terrorism against the region’s stability and international peace and security.”

In a statement today the source added that “the continuation of this approach and providing all forms of support for armed terrorist organizations, both in terms of providing them with weapons or buying the stolen Syrian oil to finance terrorist acts, as legitimized by the European Union in April 2013, is the main reason for the continuing depletion of the Syrian people and the spread of terrorism in the region.”

“Syria has announced willingness to cooperate with all serious regional and international efforts to combat terrorism within the framework of the UN Security Council resolution 2170 and respect of national sovereignty “, the statement read, noting that it is required from others, including the European Union to demonstrate due seriousness in dealing with the scourge of terrorism in a comprehensive manner.”

“The EU is called upon today to pursue policies worthy of Europe’s people and do not contradict with the values it acclaimed, rather to be a follower of others, paying bills for their wrong policy,” the source concluded.
