FM: Syria Demands UNSC to Condemn terrorist Bombings in Homs, Hold Countries that Support Terrorists Responsible

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ In two identical letters extended yesterday to both the UN Secretary -General Ban Ki-moon and the President of the Security Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that the city of Homs was hit yesterday (Wednesday) by a series of bloody car- bombs in al-Khudr street in Karam el-Louz neighborhood resulted in the martyrdom of 25 civilians including women and children,,injured more than 107 people and causing major damage to the property of citizens and businesses, and after half an hour another car blew up in the same neighborhood to increase number of victims among the citizens.

On March 6, 27 respectively, two terrorist car attacks took place against the Armenians neighborhood in the city resulted in killing 14 civilians and wounding dozens.

The statement renewed the Syrian Government ‘s demand of the UN SC to condemn this terrorist crime that claimed the lives of dozens of innocent Syrian citizens,, and other terrorist crimes that continue the shedding of the blood of Syrians, at the support from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, and to hold those countries accountable over disregarding UN Security Council resolutions on counter-terrorism, adopted by UNSC under Chapter VII which, reject all forms and manifestations of terrorism and hold States and parties sponsoring it responsible for the terrorist acts on an equal footing with the perpetrators of these crimes.

The letter concluded by saying that the UNSC continued silence over terrorist crimes in Syria and the support received by the perpetrators of these crimes raises legitimate questions about the seriousness of the doubled- practice by some UNSC permanent members in dealing with the phenomenon of terrorism and its impact on threatening international consensus on fighting world terrorism.
