FM statement: Israeli aggression on Syria Sites, Violation of Forces Separation Agreement

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ In two identical messages, to both the UN Secretary-General and President of the UN Security Council,on the Israeli aggression on sites inside the Syrian territories, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed that this aggression comes in the framework of direct continuous support provided by the Israeli enemy to the armed terrorist groups in the forces separation area.

“In a new blatant violation of the force disengagement convention of 1974, and the UN Charter and the norms of international law, the Israeli occupation forces on Sunday 22.06.2014, and Monday 23.06.2014 attacked new sites within the Syrian territory by Israeli enemy forces firing tank shells, mortars, two rockets and five Israeli aircraft attacks on the sites of the Syrian security forces led to the killing of four martyrs and wounded nine others, besides substantial damage to the sites and equipment.” The ministry said

The ministry explained that the Israeli aggression coincided  with a hostile attack carried out by armed terrorist groups on the sites of the Syrian security, thwarted by those forces, noting that the Israeli attack was made when Herve Ladsous, Under-Secretary-General for the Affairs of Peacekeeping Operations, was in the operating room the UN force to monitor the separation of forces in the Golan / UNDOF /.

The ministry added in its two messages that this new Israeli aggression comes in the framework of the ongoing direct support provided by the Israeli enemy to the armed terrorist groups in the buffer zone after the Syrian security forces  had inflicted the terrorist gangs heavy losses, noting that this aggression does not only represent a flagrant violation of the separation of forces agreement, but also threatens the security and safety of UN personnel through the persistent Israel aggression and provocations, whether through providing direct logistical support to terrorists or through its direct military aggression against the Syrian territory to protect these groups.

“ The Syrian Government calls on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities and for the implementation of its decisions to deter Israel from continuous attempts to aggravate the situation and threaten peace and security in the region, the world, and Syria “, the, messages read, demanding the UN Security Council to clearly condemn these attacks which constitute a clear violation of 1974 agreement and direct support by Israel for terrorist groups active in the area, in a clear violation of Security Council resolutions related to combating terrorism.

“Syria reiterates its demand of the UN Security Council to impose the implementation of its relevant resolutions, in particular numbers,242, 338 and 497, in rejection of the Israeli occupation of the Syrian Golan, provide for Israel’s withdrawal from all occupied Arab territories, including the occupied Syrian Golan to June 4, 1967 line,” the message concluded.
