FM Statement: Attitudes of EU Luxembourg FM’s meeting, Assault to Syrian People Rights

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ An official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stressed that the recent positions taken by the European Union EU foreign ministers about Syria is a blatant interference in its internal affairs and a violation of the rights of the Syrian people, who are eligible to their constitutional and political mandate,in determining their future.

The spokesman added in a statement yesterday, that in their meeting this week in Luxembourg, the EU Foreign Ministers adopted several positions on the situation in Syria, constituting a continuation of the policy of aggression pursued by the EU ever since the beginning of events in Syria, a policy that made of the EU a partner in the war that targeting Syria as a state, people and institutions.

The spokesman continued that stemmed from some EU states inherent colonial mentality the EU set up itself as a guardian on the Syrian affairs through its opposition to conduct the constitutional requirements timely, ignoring that such attitudes are a blatant interference in the internal affairs of Syria and an attack on the rights of the Syrian people,

“The Syrian people who are committed, more than ever to their sovereignty and independence, reject the EU-practiced political and moral hypocrisy, reflected in its ugliest forms of endeavors of trading the humanitarian suffering of the Syrian people, when declaring the intention to tightened its unilateral illegal sanctions on Syria, despite its reflection on the living conditions of the Syrians, “the statement read.

“The claim of supporting a political solution in Syria contrasts the attempts to overthrow and falsify facts through holding the Syrian government responsible for the failure of two rounds of negotiation in Geneva, contrary to the desperate attempts to misrepresent Geneva statement which confirmed the need that Geneva process should be led by Syria, in a way honoring choices of the Syrian people, institutions the country’s constitution”, the statement stressed.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants confirms the need of the EU to stop supporting terrorism and refrain from imposing unilateral sanctions that violate the international  law and the UN Charter as a guarantee to provide real support for a political action and honoring the interests of the Syrian people,” the statement concluded.

However, the EU FM’s pointed out in a statement after their recent meeting in Luxembourg that making any elections, whether presidential or otherwise in Syria ” will not have any credibility,” blaming the Syrian government responsible for what they called ” the failure of Geneva talks, ” calling for accepting the agenda of the UN envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi.
