FM Confirms Receiving Letter from Kerry, that US will Target Daesh Terrorist Organization in Syria

DAMASCUS,(ST)_”After Syria repeatedly confirmed on several occasions willingness to cooperate in the fight against terrorism in the context of full respect for national sovereignty and its emphasize on the need to respect the UN Charter, provides for respect for its territorial integrity and sovereignty, Syria’s permanent representative to the UN was notified on Monday that the US and some of its allies will target Daesh terrorist organization in the regions of its existence in Syria,just hours before launching the raids,” a statement by the Ministry of foreign Affairs and Expatriates read yesterday.

The statement added that, the minister of foreign affairs and expatriates Walid al-Moallem also received a message from his American counterpart John Kerry via Iraq’s Foreign Minister, informing that “the US will target Daesh terrorist organization bases, with some of them exist in Syria. “

“Syria asserts that it has been fighting this terrorist organization in Raqqa, Deir al-Zour and other areas, and will not stop fighting it, in cooperation with directly damaged countries on top is brotherly Iraq,” the statement said, stressing continuous coordination between the two countries at the highest levels, due to the fact that they are in the same trench in the face of this organization, in implementation of UN resolution 2170, unanimously adopted by the UN Security Council. “

The statement concluded by reiterating Syria’s stand with any international effort to fight terrorism, with full preservation of civilians life and maintaining national sovereignty in accordance with international conventions.

Jaafari: US Ambassador to the UN informed me about air strikes against Daesh

Meanwhile, Syria’s permanent representative at the UN Dr. Bashar Jaafari, told Reuters that “the US ambassador to the UN Samantha Power notified me personally of US and Arab air strikes against Daesh organization targets in Syria”.
