Chairman of the Syrian-Romanian Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the Romanian Parliament, MP Pushkacu Florin, confirmed the depth of the relationship between Syria and Romania, which is based on strong friendship and mutual respect.
“Diplomatic relations between Syria and Romania were launched in 1955 and deepened and consolidated over the past five decades to transform into a strong friendship relationship based on mutual respect, which opened the way for a true strategic partnership and prosperous cooperation between the two countries” Florin said in an interview with SANA’s correspondent in Romania
He pointed out that Syria was one of the countries that formed with Romania a regional map that took into account the promising prospects for defining energy infrastructure networks that are considered the backbone of the global economy by creating regional cooperation for five seas including the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, the Gulf, the Caspian Sea, and the Black Sea, which helped improve Security and stability in the region.
“The relations between the two countries have always been solid, especially in the cultural, social, economic and educational fields. They gained new dynamism in 2007 as several joint agreements were signed” Florin stressed.
He indicated that there is an active Syrian community in Romania consisting of approximately 10,000 citizens and a Romanian community in Syria estimated at approximately 4,000 citizens.
Florin highlighted the importance of the visit made by the Romanian President to Syria in 2008, which was a step to consolidate the traditional relations that have linked the two countries for decades and led to the opening of new horizons for cooperation, as well as the importance of the visit of President Bashar al-Assad to Romania, which established the opening of a new page in bilateral relations.

We are interested in the best relations with it, especially as it is a gateway for Romanian products in the Middle East and the Gulf region”
“Romania, in turn, is a potential gateway for Syrian products to European markets, and we can look to the future with great hope to restore the momentum of joint relations.”Florin concluded.
