Moscow , (ST) – With the participation of Syria, the global final competitions for the programming competition for university colleges, organized by the Moscow University of Physics and Technology in the Russian capital, Moscow, began today, with the participation of 178 teams from different countries of the world.

The Syrian teams represent the universities of Damascus, Tishreen, Al-Baath, the Virtual University and the Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology.

The Director of the programming competition at the Syrian Virtual University, Engineer Salma Qabbani, said in a statement to SANA that, 119 teams are currently in the competition headquarters in Moscow, and the rest of the teams will participate online. He indicated that, the current competition final is for the year 2020 and was scheduled to be organized last year, but was postponed due to the circumstances imposed by the spread of the Corona epidemic.

Qabbani pointed out that, the competition lasts for five continuous hours and includes high-level software issues, which is a way to gather a group of university students, programmers, trainers, and academics working in the field of informatics in one place. This competition aims to enhance creativity and teamwork, encourage building new software, and enable students to test their abilities and performance under pressure.

The aforementioned competition is called the “War of Minds”, as it is more than just an academic and technological competition, and it is a ground for building a cooperative global information society.
