Five-day festival on Syrian heritage begins

The 3rd Syrian heritage days festival kicked off Monday in the Khan As’ad Pasha in the old city of Damascus to mark the World Heritage Day, which also known as the International Day for monuments and sites.

The five-day festival includes art exhibitions featuring traditional crafts that reflect Syria’s deep-rooted civilization, according to the official news agency (SANA), which quoted Deputy Minister of Culture Bassam Abo Ghannam as saying that a group of Damascene craftsmen are taking part in the festival.

The craftsmen are using different methods to make art works from glass, mother of pearl, wood and pottery in an amazing view.

Khan As’ad Pasha, which is located in al-Bzoreuyehsouq in the Old City of Damascus, is covering an area of 2,500 square meters. It was built and named after As’ad Pasha al-Azm, the governor of Damascus, in 1751-52.
