Fisk Mocks Obama’s Double Standard Way of Classifying Terrorists in Syria and Iraq

LONDON- Renowned British writer and journalist Robert Fisk has mocked the US President Barack Obama’s double standard policy and the different way he views the terrorists in Syria and Iraq.

“The terrorists the United States has been supporting, financing and arming for years in Syria are the same terrorists who are attacking and killing the Iraqis and trying to destroy Iraq,” Fisk wrote in an article published by “The Independent” newspaper under the title “Syrian ‘moderates’ aren’t so moderate in Iraq”.

In reference to the strange way the US classifies terrorism in the region, Fisk clarified that Obama sees the terrorists in Syria as “moderate” enough to supply them with weapons and training worth $500 million, while in Iraq, those same terrorists are seen by Obama as extremists that must be fought.

He said Obama, who has sent his 300 elite forces to Iraq to help the Iraqi government fight the terrorists of the so-called (Islamic States in Iraq and Levant), plans to send more help to the armed groups fighting in Syria and are on the side of the terrorists in Iraq whom Obama wants the Iraqi government to defeat.

“Who are the ‘moderate’ rebels President Obama wants to train and arm?” asked Fisk, pointing out that Obama doesn’t name whom he calls “moderates”, and he can’t, because those, whom America swore to arm with the help of the CIA, the Brits, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey, were the so-called “Free Syrian Army”, who has decomposed and most of its members has turned into pro-al-Qa’ida fighter.

Fisk noted that the terrorists, who will get more US weapons, will no doubt sell them to those who pay more as they did before.

In a humiliating interview on Channel 4, the British Defense Secretary admitted that weapons given to so-called “moderate gunmen” in Syria had fallen into the hands of terrorists, according to Fisk.

He asked how one can actually find a “moderate” these days in Syria’s war, pointing out that the terrorists fighting to the death in Syria are not moderate; they are the very same terrorists now threatening the Iraqi state.

According to the writer, the problem is that Obama seeks supporting, arming and financing what he calls “moderates” without revealing that what Syria and Iraq are witnessing is the same battle against the same terrorists.
