The first regular Syrian flight arrived this evening at Aleppo International Airport coming from the Armenian capital Yerevan.
This flight marks the return of air traffic between the two friendly countries, which has been suspended since 2011.
Mohammad Haj Ibrahim, the Syrian Ambassador to Armenia, told SANA that the flight was conducted by the “Cham Wing” Airlines in cooperation with the Syrian Civil Aviation.
He said that the flight is important as it is the first after 10 years of suspension because of terrorism.
The flight, which connects Yerevan and Aleppo, facilitates the arrival of the Syrian travelers coming from Europe to Aleppo, Haj Ibrahim added, pointing out that the flight comes in implementation of President Bashar Al-Asaad’s directives to facilitate the return of the Syrian citizens abroad to their homeland.
“This great achievement has been realized thanks to the sacrifices of the Syrian Army and the steadfastness of the citizens in Aleppo that led to attaining security and stability there.
Aleppo Governor Hussein Diab, on his part, said that since the liberation of Aleppo from terrorism, relentless efforts have been exerted to rehabilitate all the service facilities in the province, including Aleppo International Airport, which helps in reactivating flights from and to Aleppo, including this Yerevan-Aleppo flight which contributes to boosting fraternity and friendship between Syria and Armenia.
Bassam Mansour, Director General of the Syrian Civil Aviation Establishment, said that the return of air traffic between Aleppo and Yerevan will facilitate the return of the Syrian expatriates in Armenia and consequently reactivate trade, industry and tourism between the two countries.

On August 10th, 2021, the “Armenia International Airports” corporation said that the “Cham Wings” Airlines will start operating flights on the Aleppo-Yerevan-Aleppo direction as of September 4.
According to the information, flights will be operated once a week, on Saturdays.
