DAMASCUS, (ST)- First Lady Mrs. Asma Al-Assad has stressed the important role being played by orphanages in support for the psychological, health and educational status of orphans and to help them be effective people in society.
Mrs. Asma made the remarks during her visit on Saturday to Dar al-Rahma Orphanage in Rukn Eddin area in Damascus on the occasion of Laylat al-Qadr (the night in Islamic belief when the first verses of the holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad).
“Providing care to orphaned children is one of the most sublime humanitarian activities, as man is the highest target for the good future of who we in Syria are all working, ” Mrs. Asma told women looking after the orphans after she met the orphaned children and toured the orphanage’s departments to inspect the living condition of the children and the services provided to them.
Mrs. Asma was briefed on the situation of the children’s study and on the orphanage’s preparations to welcome Eid al-Fitr.
Concluding her visit, the First Lady attended an artistic show presented by the orphaned children.
