First flight carrying Syrians stranded abroad because of coronavirus arrives in Damascus from Yerevan
DAMASCUS, (ST)- The first flight carrying Syrians stranded abroad because of coronavirus arrived in Damascus International Airport Wednesday morning coming from the Armenian Capital, Yerevan.
The returnees were transferred to quarantine centers where they will stay for a period of 14 days in implementation of the anti-coronavirus precautionary measures specified by the government team concerning the return of the Syrians stranded abroad.
Syria’s Ambassador to Armenia Mohammad al-Haj Ibrahim clarified to SANA that the flight was made in cooperation with Cham Wings Airlines and the Syrian Embassy in Yerevan in order to transport 29 stranded Syrians to their country.
This flight is the first that is made within the framework of securing the return of the stranded Syrians after the government team has designated the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Health and Transport to study the situation of the Syrian citizens, who couldn’t return home due to coronavirus crisis, and to do what is necessary to bring them back in accordance with the safety and health measures adopted to fight the deadly virus.
The Health Ministry has stressed that the quarantine centers in different Syrian provinces are ready to receive the returnees for medical tests to make sure that they are not infected with coronavirus.
