The Syrian city of Deir Ezzor on Saturday witnessed the opening of Al-Amal Medical Center for Treating Patients with Cancer.
The center, which is the first of its kind in Deir Ezzor province, was established by the Syrian Association for Child Cancer Care and Treatment.
According to the association’s Chairperson Muzna Al-Olabi, the center provides free treatment for children from birth age to 18 years of age. It also provides medical consultations, dose infusion and treatment for adult patients.
Al-Olabi explained that the center is supplied with modern equipment and qualified medical staff. She urged donors to provide more support for the association so that the center can render treatment services to all citizens for free in the next stage.
On his part, Secretary of the Association Mohammad Zeino said that opening this center alleviates the burden and the cost of travelling to Damascus or other governorates to receive the treatment. He pointed out that the association also implements psychological support and entertainment programs for sick children, and it works to follow up on their education and academic achievement.
