First batch of civilians evacuated from the Ukrainian city of Izium to Russian borders

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Saturday that some 100 civilians have been evacuated for the first time from the city of Izium in the Ukrainian region of Kharkov to the Russian borders.

  According to Ria Novosti, a number of Russian army vehicles transferred the first batch of civilians, most of them are women, children and elderly, from Izium in Kharkov region to the Russian borders.

The vehicles were accompanied by Russian helicopters and military police cars until they reached the Russian borders where the evacuees received necessary humanitarian aid including food and medical care.

 Some of the evacuees said that the city of Izium itself has been the target of continuous fire shooting by the Ukrainian forces and that life in this city and the surrounding area is very dangerous.
