Firmo platform: Forests of northwestern Syria are affected by gradual increase in severity of fires

The Forestry and Fire Monitoring Platform “Firmo” warned of an increase in the intensity of fire danger indicators on forest sites in northwestern Syria, starting today, Thursday, as the area of sites affected by the high level increases at the expense of the medium level.

The platform indicated on its Facebook page that the impact will increase over the next two days. Some sites will be under the influence of a very high level during next Saturday, as natural conditions of heat and dryness cause high levels of fire danger, warning against any activities that may cause the outbreak of any fire.

The platform noted that maps are being prepared at the General Authority for Remote Sensing in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform – Forestry Directorate and the General Directorate of Meteorology, calling on all citizens not to light any fires and to report any fire or smoke to the toll-free numbers 188 and 113.
