Fires are extinguished in forest areas in al-Mazirah and Salanfa in Lattakia countryside

Lattakia, (ST) – Firefighting teams from the Forestry Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, the Latakia Fire Brigade and the Civil Defense put out a fire in the lands of the villages of Al-Shibl, Karam Al-Halawani and Al-Masis, in Al-Muzaira’a district in Lattakia countryside.

Eng. Basem Duba, Head of the Forestry Department in the Agriculture Directorate, stated to SANA’s correspondent that 3 firefighting teams from the Forestry Department in the Agriculture Directorate and 10 vehicles participated in putting out the fire in addition to four vehicles from the Latakia Fire Brigade and two vehicles from the Civil Defense, Currently the fire is in the cooling and monitoring phase Efforts are exerted to stop as the eastern winds continues to blow dry.

He pointed out that the fire destroyed about 50 dunums of forest land and small areas of agricultural land.

Duba added that the firefighting teams were also able to extinguish a fire that broke out in Al-Hawa village in Slanfeh sub-district.
