Firefighting teams continue to be in a state of high alert to control the fires in Lattakia northern countryside
Efforts by the firefighting teams to control and extinguish the fires that broke out in the forests in Lattakia northern countryside continued for the fifth consecutive day.
In this context, Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf, Minister of Agriculture and Agriarian Reform Mohammad Hassan Qatana and Lattakia Governor Amer Hilal continue to follow up on the operations of suppressing and controlling the fires amid a state of high alert by the firefighting teams and concerned bodies.
Teams from the civil defense, agriculture directorate and fire brigades from several governorates are participating in the fire-extinguishing operations, supported by the Syrian Arab Army units and helicopters.
Head of the Lattakia Fire Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Mohannad Jaafar told a SANA reporter that the firefighting teams managed to prevent the fires from expanding towards the Jouret Al-Maa villiage, noting that no damage was caused to the agricultural lands and properties of citizens in the village.
