Filippo Grandi: Israeli attacks on Lebanon have caused a terrible crisis

BEIRUT, Oct.5, (ST)-Today, the head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi,  condemned the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, indicating that they have caused a terrible crisis.

Grandi arrived in Lebanon on Saturday on a “solidarity” visit for those affected by Israeli bombardment, decrying a “terrible crisis” that requires international support.

He said on social network X that “Lebanon faces a terrible crisis” as “hundreds of thousands of people are left destitute or displaced by Israeli air strikes”, adding: “I have come here in solidarity with those affected, to support the humanitarian effort and to ask for more international help.”

The Israeli enemy’s brutal attacks and violations of international humanitarian law continue on a daily basis by targeting populated residential areas, medical centers and rescue teams in Lebanon.

Today, the Israeli enemy launched an airstrike on the health  center in the town of Siddiqin and launched other strikes on the towns of Qana and Tayr Dibba in the Tire region of southern Lebanon.
