Fifty French Salafi Fight in Syria- Paris

PARIS, (ST) _ French authorities on Thursday admitted that around fifty “Salafist  jihadi” with French citizenship  are in Syria.

The weekly bulletin on strategic news quoted the investigating judge in the counter-terrorism issues Marc Trevedsh admitting that about fifty of the “Salafis” are currently in Syria.

For his part, French Interior Minister Manuel Valls said that about 100 French people or living in France went to Syria under the supervision of groups close to al-Qaeda.

The bulletin said that this is the first official statistics announced by the French authorities, which in the past confined  to transfer information from armed groups in Syria and talk  about killing 6 “fighters” who have French citizenship in Syria.

These figures, however, confirm the sincerity of Syrian sources which talk about facilities provided by known countries especially the Turkish Government of the Justice and Development Party, which opens the border to “extremists” to go with their guns into the Syrian territory.
