Fifth unit of Aleppo Thermal Power Plant put into service

The fifth unit of Aleppo Thermal Power Plant in the General Company for Generating Electricity was put into service today after maintenance works have been completed.

Minister of Electricity Ghassan Al-Zamil noted the need to coordinate the work and speed up completing the work that is required to fully rehabilitate the plant, pointing out that the unjust blockade imposed on Syria impedes all the work related to reconstruction, especially securing spare parts and modern technologies.

For his part, Director of Aleppo thermal power plant, Omar al-Breijawi, indicated that the maintenance works aimed at improving the performance of the unit, given that the electricity network has been reinforced with a capacity of 207 megawatts.

He pointed out that the minister discussed with the concerned staff at the Iranian company, which implemented the project, the technical solutions and measures in preparation for putting the first unit into service as soon as possible.
