Fidan and Lavrov  discuss the situation in Syria on Monday in Ankara

A source at  the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to discuss the situation in the Middle East, particularly in Syria and Ukraine, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Ankara tomorrow,

The source told TASS that the Syrian issue will focus on “Turkey’s determination to completely cleanse Syria of terrorist elements.”

He added that “Fidan intends to emphasize the importance of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and political unity, as well as affirming that Israel’s aggressive policies, which threaten Syria’s territorial integrity, are unacceptable.”

The source pointed out that ahead of Lavrov’s arrival in Ankara, stating that “Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will hold talks with his Russian counterpart, during which bilateral cooperation issues—particularly trade, energy, and tourism—will be discussed in detail.

They will also exchange views on ending the war in Ukraine by establishing a just and lasting peace through diplomatic efforts.

“Additionally, recent communications between the United States and Russia, as well as Turkey’s potential role in mediation, will be discussed.” The source said.
