Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce keen on working to stabilize the economic situation in the country in coordination with the government
The head of the Federation of the Syrian Chambers of Commerce and the head of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, Basel Hamwi, affirmed that there is continuous and permanent cooperation and coordination with the government, particularly in the light of the current circumstances in the country, regarding the work to stabilize the economic situation, considering that any deterioration in the exchange rate is reflected in the prices of materials and goods in the market.
Hamwi pointed out, in a statement on the sidelines of a meeting at the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, the pivotal role of the Central Bank in maintaining the exchange rate and financing all imports through the platform in effect at the official price, which is considered a safety valve in light of these temporary exceptional circumstances, pointing out the importance of accelerating the process of financing imports in order to increase their quantities in the market.
Hamwi confirmed the existence of stocks of goods and materials in warehouses that are sufficient for the market’s needs for a long time, indicating that there is continuous cooperation and communication between the Federation, the chambers and all concerned parties in order to provide materials and goods in the markets.
