Federation of Arab Engineers calls for supporting Syria and breaking siege

The Engineers Union held a celebration to mark the 60th  anniversary of the founding of the Federation of Arab Engineers, under the slogan (Sixty years towards Arab engineering integration), in the presence of a number of heads of Arab engineering unions and societies, delegations from Arab engineers, trade union branches and engineering committees in Syria.

During the celebration that was held on Saturday at Cham Hotel in Damascus, a documentary video was screened about the repercussions of the earthquake on the governorates that hit it and the rescue operations of citizens from under the rubble. The participants discussed supporting Syria in facing the effects of the devastating earthquake and providing the necessary resources in the field of reconstruction, calling for the need to break the unjust siege imposed by the United States and the West and stand by it.

In his speech during the ceremony, Minister of Public Works and Housing, Engineer Suhail Abdel Latif, highlighted the role of the Federation of Arab Engineers in the joint Arab development process through the scientific studies it presents to Arab organizations and governments, in addition to organizing engineering conferences, seminars and scientific meetings that contributed to the development and advancement of the engineering profession.

Speaking about the earthquake that hit some provinces, Minister Abdul Latif pointed to the great impact of the assistance provided by the Arab countries in alleviating the pain. He underlined the work of the Ministry’s committees after this disaster in the technical examination of damaged and cracked buildings, providing engineering services and advice to citizens, reviewing and evaluating the necessary systems, updating codes, and taking strict procedures and instructions to face any emergency disasters in the future.

For his part, Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Engineers, Dr. Adel Al-Hadithi, stressed the victory of Syria, the people, the army and the leadership after many years of patience and resistance against aggression, stressing that it will return to its former state as wanted by all the honorable and free people in the world, a platform for truth and justice and an impenetrable bulwark against all Zionist ambitions.

Al-Hadithi pointed to the role of the Arabs and the Federation in providing the necessary support to Syria to face the repercussions of the devastating earthquake that struck several regions of it.

In his turn, head of the Syrian Engineers Union, Ghayath Al-Qutini, noted the union’s role in raising the status of the engineering profession, and performing its mission to unite Arab engineers under the banner of Arabism and preserving the engineering heritage. He illustrated the union’s efforts to address the repercussions of the earthquake through the measures that were taken to mitigate its effects, repair the errors that occurred, and contribute in support of those affected.
