“Fan of Arts”.. An educational plastic art project launched in Lattakia

The importance of art in a child’s development is undeniable, especially for children who are still developing key cognitive and motor skills.

Art enables children to work on their own projects that could be applied in our daily life.

It also helps children to understand the cause and effects relationship as well as colors coordination and patterns because they develop the skills of planning and organization.

“Art is the secret language of children to express their views and concepts for which they have no words to describe. The importance of art in child development is lauded by parents, counsellors, educators as it gives deep insights into the child’s creativity and emotions” the  plastic artist Adawya Dayoub said in an interview with the Syriatimes e-newspaper.

The artist Dayoub , who is the founder of the “ fan of arts” project recently launched in Lattakia , stressed that “Creating art expands a children’s ability to interact with the world around them, and provides a new set of skills for self-expression and communication”.

She pointed out that people who study art at early childhood stage tend to have higher test scores and have more academic success later in life, stressing that art provides students with an outlet for emotional troubles and helps them to deal with stress and difficult feelings.

When asked about “The Fan of Arts” Project, the plastic artist Dayoub said:  “It is an artistic and educational platform through which the worlds of fine art in its various forms, classical and modern are presented to the children at the Children’s Public Library Association in Lattakia.

“The children participating in  “the  Fan of arts”  project  express  spaces  of colors, lines, shades through their  colorful drawings that express  their innocent world” according to artist Dayoub.

Dayoub , who is also a  member of the Children’s Public Library Association and a founder of many initiatives to consolidate the role of art in developing society , made it clear that  the cultural  project extends in its first phase over a period of 3 months and attracted so far 36 children, who are  divided into two age groups from 7 to 15.

She highlighted the fact that the project embodies purely artistic and educational features that depend on providing the basics of drawing, in addition to open-air activities through the children’s visits to educational and artistic facilities such as the center of the plastic and applied arts as well as to the modern and national museums in the governorate.

The children will also be trained on the sidelines of the project to carry out ceramics, wood and pottery artworks, in addition to recycling natural materials.

The artist Dayoub indicated that the project is currently focusing on the early childhood stage, because the image of the child’s world around him is formed at this stage so that he can express his feelings and his relationship with the surroundings.

She highly appreciated Children’s Public Library Association’s support for the project to provide all the requirements for the project.

The founder of the project cited that the project is characterized by focusing on teaching children electronic drawing to raise their awareness about the fruitful artistic and creative uses of the modern technology.

Families of the participating children in the project told the Syriatimes e-newspaper that the project ensures an opportunity to spread the message of  art including love, peace  and beauty through their  children and to promote the values that art shows learning patience, calmness,  and looking at things in different ways in addition to developing their talents.
