With the participation of President of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmed Al-Sharaa, the extraordinary Arab Summit “Palestine Summit” kicked today in Cairo.
In his speech, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, President of the current session of the Arab League Council, welcomed President of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmed Al-Sharaa and wished him all the best in his efforts to achieve advancement and prosperity for his country.
Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul Gheit said during the extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo: Today’s summit aims to prevent a new Nakba against the Palestinian people.
He pointed out that the illegal American projects and policies in the region are unacceptable.
Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres said Gaza must remain part of the Palestinian state.
“I call for urgent de-escalation and prevention of settlement expansion,” he added.
He stressed that the territorial integrity of Syria and Lebanon must be respected.
For his part, President of the European Council Antonio Costa said that the international community and Arab countries seek to give a glimmer of hope to the Palestinians.
“We completely reject any attempt to change the demographic situation in Gaza, he added.
“We support the continued work of UNRWA in Gaza. We also support the Egyptian plan for Gaza and are committed to the two-state solution,” Antonio Costa clarified.
Jordanian King Abdullah II said “we must prepare a clear and implementable vision regarding the management of Gaza and linking it to the West Bank”.
“We will continue to support our brothers in Gaza and care for the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Al-Quds (Jerusalem),” King Abdullah added.
He also said “we reject Israel’s decision to prevent the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, which violates international law.”
“The two-state solution is the only solution that guarantees the establishment of the Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital,” the king explained.
The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said “we are facing serious challenges that threaten the Palestinian cause.”
“We call on Trump to support Gaza reconstruction plan without displacing its people”, he added, noting a plan to organize legislative elections if the appropriate conditions are available.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said the Palestinian cause needs a strong Arab position and “we must support the choices of the Palestinian people”.
He adddd “Israel still occupies Lebanese lands and we have prisoners in Israeli jails.”
“We don’t abandon our land and don’t forget our prisoners and we will not leave them,” he stressed.
For his part, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid said: We condemn the Israeli occupation’s call to displace two million Palestinians from Gaza to other countries
“We call on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities to prevent the displacement of Palestinians from their land,” he added.
He called for intensifying efforts to deliver medical and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
He also called for urgent action to rebuild Gaza Strip and for establishing a fund for this purpose, warning of the disastrous impacts of the schemes that target the Palestinian cause.
