Extensive participation in the promotional event in Damascus for the 19th Asian Games in China

Damascus (ST): With the wide participation of Syrian athletes in a number of games, the Syrian Olympic Committee held a promotional event in Al Fayhaa Sports City in Damascus for China to host the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou next September.

The event included two cycling and running races, karate, takewondo, gymnastics, badminton, arm wrestling, table tennis and handball.

During a press conference held at the end of the promotional sports events for the upcoming Asian Games, Wissam Al-Turkmani, Projects and Administration Officer at the Olympic Council of Asia, underlined the importance of this promotional event, which aims to promote the practice of sports and give the opportunity to participants of all ages to be part of the Asian Games, in addition to promoting health, Olympic values, and introducing the Asian Games.

Al-Turkmani referred to the good level of the Syrian sport and its strong presence in the Asian championships and the remarkable talents that he witnessed during the event in a number of games, which gives a good impression of the good preparation pursued by the Syrian sports cadres with regard to the young age groups.

Al-Turkmani indicated that the Asian Games, which began in India in 1951, were held in 1990 in Beijing, and in Gwangju in 2010.
