Expo 2024 for Syrian Exports kicks off with participation of 600 national companies

The activities of Expo 2024 for Syrian Exports kicked off Wednesday evening at the New Fairgrounds in Damascus with the participation of 600 national companies from various industrial sectors of “engineering, textile, food and pharmaceutical industries” and on an area of 50 thousand square meters.

In a statement to reporters, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade in the caretakervgovernment Mohammad Samer Al-Khalil, underlined the importance of the exhibition, which expresses the state of steadfastness and challenge experienced by all industrialists in Syria in various sectors, indicating that despite the difficulties, sanctions and damages that befell them, they were determined to work to display their products until they return to foreign export markets.

Minister Al-Khalil noted that exportation is the basis of the production process and foreign exchange resources, highlighting the government support and joint efforts of the unions to activate this sector as an opportunity to continue the work of the production sectors, employ the workforce and invest in local resources.

In turn, the Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in the caretaker government Mohsen Abdul Karim Ali noted that the “Expo Syria” is an opportunity for industrialists to market their products and get acquainted with  their customers in other countries. He asserted that the exhibition is a place that allows visitors to get acquainted with Syrian products in various public and private production sectors, which reflects positively on the national economy, noting the concerted efforts of everyone to contribute to the flow of Syrian products to foreign markets.

For his part, the Minister of Industry in the caretaker government, Dr. Abdul Qader Jokhdar, pointed to the diversity of industries in this exhibition, which confirms the economic growth in Syria and the insistence of industrialists with all economic parties to continue working. He underlined the government’s keenness to provide all kinds of support and necessary facilities for the economic sector and to back the production process.

He said “what we have witnessed today in terms of a remarkable development in the production lines industry for various industries and in the manufacture of products and the good reputation they enjoy were factors that attracted businessmen and traders from several Arab and foreign countries to export these products to foreign markets”.

Head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry, Ghazwan Al-Masry, indicated that holding the exhibition is one of the most important steps in economic promotion and in casting light on Syrian industries and products to regain their position in export markets. He pointed out that the great successes achieved by previous textile exhibitions prompted all economic parties to participate in this exhibition from various sectors, noting that the textile and food industries enjoy a good export share, so this exhibition seeks to shed light on the export capabilities of engineering and chemical industries.

Head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Muhammad Abu Al-Huda Al-Lahham, affirmed  that the exhibition is one of the first steps taken by economic parties to increase the volume of exports and open new markets for Syrian products, which we hope will be crowned with success. He underlined the importance of providing support to the industrial and commercial sectors such as travel facilities and money transfers and providing an attractive environment for the return of investors, especially Syrian expatriates, to their homeland.

Vice President of Aleppo Chamber of Industry, Mustafa Kawaya, highlighted the importance of the exhibition as a broad gateway to promote the Syrian product and open new markets for it, pointing to Aleppo’s wide participation in the exhibition, where it constituted more than 50 percent of the total participation of the textile sector, in addition to participation in the chemical, engineering and food sectors.

Head of the Syrian Exporters Association for Clothing and Textiles, Ragheed Halabi, stated that there are more than 3,000 merchants and businessmen from outside Syria who came to visit the exhibition, which promises to sign export contracts for Syrian products from various industries to its foreign markets and open new markets.

The exhibition, which will continue until next Sunday, is organized by the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry and the Regional Office of the Federation of Arab Exporters and Importers in Syria, in cooperation with the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and the Syrian Exporters Association for Clothing and Textiles.
