Experiences gained from the COVID-19 pandemic reviewed at a conference of the Syrian Association of Emergency Physicians
Damascus (ST): The themes of the first scientific conference for the year 2022 of the Syrian Association of Emergency and Intensive Care Physicians, which was held at the Caesar Palace Hotel in Damascus, entitled “Emergency Medicine and the Experiences Gained from the Covid 19 Pandemic” focused on the various thoracic, cardiovascular, blood and digestive manifestations of the disease and its classification and treatment methods.
In a speech during the opening of the conference, the Assistant Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Dhamiriya, explained that the Ministry considers emergency medicine and intensive care among the most important disciplines that serve its objectives in the health sector, and it supports this domain, pointing out that the first batch of graduated from Physicians specializing in emergency medicine in 1998.
Director of Ambulance and Emergency in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Tawfiq Hassa, explained that the Covid-19 pandemic has proven the importance and response of emergency doctors in the pre-hospital phase, receiving the patient by ambulance, following up on him in the care department, and preventing the deterioration of his condition.
The head of the Syrian Association of Emergency and Intensive Care Physicians, Dr. Haitham Farhat, explained that this specialty is the cornerstone of medical specialties because the emergency doctor is the first to provide medical care in emergency and critical cases and the first to deal with patients and provide them with initial treatment, noting that the number of emergency doctors in Syria amount to140 doctors.
