Within the activities of the Circassian Cultural Week, a Circassian Heritage Exhibition was opened in Tishreen Hall in Aleppo. This event is held in cooperation between the Directorate of Culture and the Circassian Charitable Society, with the participation of 12 exhibitors. The Exhibition will be open for the coming two days.
The exhibition is held to introduce the intangible heritage that reflects Circassian folklore, customs and traditions. The exhibition includes types of handicrafts, wool, crochet, etamine, embroideries, woodwork, food, pastries and sweets that are famous for Circassian cuisine.
The exhibition is a product of courses carried out by the Circassian Women’s Association in the field of handicrafts, kitchen, knitting, clothing for Circassian dress, and the recycling of some wooden pieces with the aim of introducing this heritage and passing it on to future generations.
Some of the participants followed the steps of hand-made exhibits, including painting on glass, and recycling of consumable items at home. The participants stressed the importance of the role of women in the exhibition, which contributes to enhancing their self-confidence.
Remarkable participations were made through embroideries and crafts to introduce the visitors to Circassian heritage and folklore. Other participations are made through manual wool works which confirm that the women of Aleppo are productive at work and at home.
The individual participations in the exhibition show the diversity and richness of the Syrian society in the field of products of heritage and folklore as well as the ability to contribute in order to support the national economy.
