Evidence mounts on the Dutch government’s involvement in supporting terrorist organizations in Syria
More facts have been exposed to the world public opinion about the involvement of the government of the Netherlands in supporting terrorist organizations in Syria after the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte acknowledged, a few days ago, that he personally interfered to block a parliamentary investigation into his government’s provision of millions of US dollars to terrorists in Syria.
The scandal of blocking the investigation comes after the Dutch media outlets published files uncovering the Dutch government’s involvement in supplying terrorists in Syria with high-tech communication equipment, logistical and military ammunition as well as hundreds of trucks and vehicles.
Back then, the Dutch investigators couldn’t reach any conclusions because Rutte impeded the work of the investigation committee and hid some secrets that prove his direct collusion with the terrorists and his flagrant violation of both the Dutch and the international law, as the armed groups he has logistically and financially supported are classified as terrorist organizations by the Dutch prosecution itself, an analysis published by SANA Arabic said.
The investigation committees were formed two years ago by the Dutch Parliament after two media outlets unveiled in a documentary in 2017 the Dutch government’s support for more than 20 terrorist groups, including “al-Jabha al-Shamiyyeh” organization which is classified as terrorist by the Dutch institutions themselves.
Rutte’s impeding of the investigations were met by the outrage of the Dutch public. Also, several Dutch and European parties started to raise this issue at public opinion platforms, calling for transparency and truth and asking about the benefit of democracy if it is not reflected in the ethics of international policies.
The Dutch support for terrorist groups in Syria continued over the years of the war on Syria, despite confirmations by Amsterdam’s government that what it called “moderate groups” were the only parties which received its support.
In September 2018, the Dutch Broadcasting Foundation (Nederlandse Omroep Stichting – NOS) stressed that the Dutch government had provided logistical equipment and services to “al-Jabha al-Shameyyeh” terror group between 2015-2018.
The Dutch government justified its illegal interference in the investigation by indicating that it will reveal secret information and uncover the reality of the US-led coalition purportedly to fight Daesh terrorism.
The Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok also called for stopping the investigation, saying it will cause big problems, reveal hidden secrets and embarrass Holland’s allies who will undoubtedly be included in the investigations.
The Dutch government’s fear about uncovering this scandal led it to fabricate lies and allegations about human rights in Syria with the aim of hiding its involvement in supporting terrorism and its subordination to the US master. This government has tried to use the international Court of Justice in the Hague to serve western agendas, but uncovering the personal interference of the Dutch Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to freeze the investigation led the Dutch public opinion to doubt about credibility of their government institutions.
The Netherland is the second European country, after Belgium, that has the biggest share as regards the number of European terrorists who travelled to Syria and Iraq to fight alongside the terrorist organizations.
In 2015, the Dutch Ministry of Justice said that hundreds of Dutch citizens left their country to Syria and Iraq in order to join the fighting alongside the terrorist organizations. The ministry indicated that 30 of those terrorists were killed in battlefields while some others have returned to their homelands, pointing out that some of these terrorists took part in several terrorist attacks in Europe, such as the Charlie Hebdo incident in Paris.
In February, 2017, the Dutch intelligence agency also acknowledged that it dealt with dozens of Dutch children who travelled with their parents or alone to Daesh-controlled areas in Iraq and Syria where they receive military training by Daesh extremist terrorists.
Being a major European exporter of terrorists to Syria and Iraq, and given its subordination to the United States, the Dutch government is the last party which has the right to talk about democracy and human rights in Syria or in any other country and it should be held accountable at the International Court of Justice for its violations.
