Everybody Wins by Iran Nuclear Deal Except for Warmongers, Says Zarif
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that he insisted everybody won by the Iran nuclear deal except for warmongers.
Anyone seeking a balanced settlement won and whoever was seeking tension was driven to failure, Zarif said, speaking in a meeting to explore the Iran nuclear deal with the six powers.
‘If you are going to win, one person has to lose and this will lead to war,’ Zarif said.
‘We tell the world that we want to interact with the new method. The foundation of dialogue between civilizations was built on setting aside the zero-sum game because nobody benefits from the zero-sum game and even for the world’s superpower it brought about September 11.’
The foreign minister noted that there is no limitation on Iran’s missile capabilities in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and that Iran will continue with its fight against terrorism and extremism in the region.
Zarif said that Tehran has repeatedly announced that hadn’t Iran strongly resisted in the region, many regional capitals would have fallen into the hands of ISIL.
On the government plans for the post-sanctions era, Zarif said that the best guarantee for implementation of the JCPOA is to tie up Iran’s economy with other countries so as to make it difficult for negotiating parties to breach the deal.
Iran, P5+1 nuclear deal balanced – Zarif
Final text ofthe Comprehensive Joint Plan Of Action (CJPOA) is balanced, Foreign Minister Mohammad JavadZarif said.
Speaking to reporters, he said that large turnout of people in the 2013 presidential election made the world powers disappointed with imposed sanctions.
The international community changed behavior towards Iran immediately after issuance of the CJPOA, the official added.
He said that enemies wanted to manipulate sanctions as a tool to divide people from the establishment but they failed to do so.
Zarif said that the final text of CJPOA is balanced because other sides of talks could not impose their demands on Iran and in the meantime, Iran also could not reach all its requests.
Iran and P5+1 have been asked to accomplish their obligations simultaneously durig a decade, he noted.
UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2231, despite imposing some limitations on Iran’s nuclear program, urges the presence of other states to participate in Iran’s nuclear activities, Zarif noted.
He said that Iran has only accepted some limitations on its peaceful nuclear activities and missile capabilities in exchange for removal of its sanctions.
Red lines have been upheld in Iranian nuclear program, says Salehi
Meanwhile, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali-Akbar Salehi said on Sunday that the red lines have been upheld in Iranian nuclear program.
Salehi told a meeting to survey the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed by Iran and the G5+1, that target of Iranian nuclear program is to advance the industry to the stage of producing commercial output.
Salehi hoped that Iran will generate 3,000 megawatts of electricity from nuclear energy by the next 10 years.
He said that before and after the Islamic Revolution and even after the Vienna deal reached on July 14, Iran has been generating electricity from nuclear energy.
He noted that after the nuclear talks, Iran faces no limitation to continue with peaceful nuclear program.
He said that as far as verification is concerned, the IAEA should go on with its inspection — as has been the case in more than 30 years ago – in Iran, being an IAEA member and a signatory to the NPT.
‘As long as the world order exists and as long as we have nuclear activities, the inspection will be in place for our country and the entire member states as well.’
Salehi said that there will be another form of inspection under the title of verification: After the Vienna deal, we should do quantitative activities, minimizing the number of centrifuges, lowering the amount of reserves to 300 kilograms; They will in return verify that Iran is honoring the IAEA Safeguards Agreement. So, they will terminate all sanctions.’
‘As far as the verification is concerned, we have admitted limitations for purchase of equipment and they offered a list of equipment, saying that’s what they intended. Of course, that was not true for our country; even a country like Nigeria is checked by the list; we admitted that a committee, providing a list of double-purpose goods, will monitor the equipment due to be purchased.’
At the time being after Vienna, ‘we purchase our needed equipment through official channels; and we will lodge complaint officially in case of any industrial wrongdoing. ‘
Dealing with talks with the G5+1, Salehi said Iranian party managed to gain what it wanted by the deal.
‘You will witness dignity in the future and good for the generations to come who will see to which direction the country is going and what a good fortune awaits them.’
