The European parliamentarians, journalists, researchers and university professors have been invited to visit Syria to have a firsthand experience of what is going in there and convey what they see back to their governments, highlighting the importance of restoring the European states’ diplomatic relations with Syria.
These delegations efficiently work to correct the wrong policies adopted by some governments towards what is happening in Syria.
The European parliamentarians could play a significant role to correct the wrong policies of their governments that have caused terrorism to spread and led to worsening the living conditions of the Syrian people due to the economic blockade they imposed on them, forcing many Syrians to leave their country and seek refuge in other states.
The delegation members have expressed solidarity with the Syrians and condemned the crimes committed by armed terrorist organizations, noting that their visit aims at learning about what is happening in Syria and conveying the true image of the situation to the European people.
The terrorism which targets Syria constitutes a threat to the whole world, yet terrorism still receives support from many countries, mainly the US, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, and a number of European countries. There should be concerted efforts to prevent the spread of extremism in the world and to prevent the exploitation of what is happening in the region to promote the Takfiri Wahhabi ideology among young people in Western countries.
It is normal that what is happening in Syria and the Arab region would greatly affect Europe given the geographical vicinity of the two regions and the cross-cultural communication.
The European delegation members said their visits to Syria and the suffering of the Syrian people they have seen would make them put effort to the effect of correcting the policies of the European governments and pressuring them into lifting the sanctions.
The European parliamentarians affirmed the need to keep Syria’s sovereignty intact, stressing that the Syrians alone should decide their country’s future without any foreign interference. The visiting delegations denounced the arrogant conduct in which the European states and the US deal with the countries of the world, expressing rejection of interference in the domestic affairs of any country.
They have the complete satisfaction that the terrorism striking in Syria today is the same kind of terror that claimed the lives of civilians in Europe as a result of terrorist attacks that took place in different European cities.
The European officials affirmed it is the Syrian people’s right to decide their country’s future and choose their leadership for themselves, expressing disapproval of the positions of the US, France and other European countries.
Through these visits, the delegations were able to get a picture of the sort of suffering the Syrian people are going through and of the steadfastness of the Syrian army in its war against terrorism. The delegations have also got an idea of how badly the economic sanctions affected the health services in Syria, wondering why the European Union is doing harm to the people who are fighting terrorism.
Members of the delegations ’ve come to Syria to express their solidarity with the Syrian people against terrorism, and to convey a message that the people of Western countries support the Syrians, contrary to what Western media outlets are trying to claim.
They stressed that Syria will remain the symbol of life and co-existence and that all attempts to undermine the country will be in vain. The delegations called on the European states, if they are truly serious about combating terrorism, to cooperate with the Syrian government in this regard and work for putting an end to the unfair economic blockade imposed on the Syrian people.
The visits have made a wide sector of the public opinion in Europe realize that the Syrian people and army are really fighting terrorism, a realization recently reached after the terrorist attacks which hit European countries.
