European Parliamentarian calls on Italy to stop arms exports to the Turkish regime

Strasbourg, (ST) – The European Parliament’s Vice-President Fabio Massimo Castaldo stressed the importance of Italy’s adherence to stop the export of the arms to the Turkish regime, which launches a blatant aggression on Syrian territories.

“We strongly stressed that there should be a ban by all member states regarding the export of arms to Turkey and we asked to close its accession to the European Union talks because it does not respect the law and its actions are very aggressive,” Castaldo was quoted as saying on the sidelines of the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg yesterday.

Earlier, a number of European countries, including France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Spain, Britain and the Czech Republic, announced the suspension of the sale of military equipment to the Turkish regime against the backdrop of its aggression on Syrian territories.

Since the ninth of this month, the Turkish regime has launched an aggression against a number of cities, villages and towns in the countryside of Al-Hasakah and Raqqa which led to the death and injury of hundreds of civilians, including children, women and workers in the service sectors, and significant material damage in service facilities and important infrastructure such as dams, power plants and water.
