Frankfurt (ST): The Expert in the German Marshall Fund Sudha David-Wilp said that the relations between Europe and the US have become on the life support under Trump administration.
France Press Agency quoted David Wilp as saying that the Europeans are aware of the internal problems that hit the US, so how can it be a partner that they can depend on.
Recent opinion polls have shown that that the image of the US in Europe has dropped to the lowest level as only 26% of the Germans view Washington positively.
Experts say that the retreating rate can be attributed to Trump administration’s failure in managing the Corona-virus pandemic crisis.
The experts added that Trump dealt one blow after another to the pluralism that the Europeans adopt as an approach to deal with international challenges. The first blow dealt by Trump was his withdrawal from the Climate Treaty, followed by his withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal and imposing fees on the steel and aluminum imports coming from the European Union.
They went on to say that even if the democratic candidate Biden wins the forthcoming US elections, there won’t be a magical solution that bridges the gap between the two sides.
